<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>The war of words between TMC and BJP over Mamata Banerjee’s hard stance against demonetization escalated on Sunday. BJP West Bengal President Dilip Ghosh had earlier claimed that Mamata Banerjee had ‘lost her mind’ because she lost ‘hundreds of crores’ due to demonetization. Continuing the attack, he told ANI on Sunday: “Jab woh Delhi mei natak kar rahi thi,hum chahte to unka baal pakad ke nikal sakte the;hamari Police hai wahan. Par hum aisa nahi karte. Ek CM iss tarah ke shabd PM ke liye istemal karti hain vo theek nahi hai.” (When Mamata was protesting Delhi, we could’ve dragged her by the hair, the Delhi police is ours. But we didn’t do it. A CM speaking like that about the PM is not right.)Hitting out at Ghosh’s comments, TMC’s Derek O’Brien said: “New low in politics, 3rd class politics; made dangerous, threatening, false & personal allegations against Mamata Banerjee.”Earlier, Ghosh had said Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has lost her mind after the demonetization drive and that was the reason behind her recent visits to Delhi and Patna.Speaking at a meeting of the party’s youth wing held at Paschim Medinipore district’s Jhargram yesterday, Ghosh said Banerjee has lost her mind and is crying for losing thousand of crores of rupees in the recent demonetisation of higher currency notes.”…That was why she (Banerjee) is visiting New Delhi and Patna. And failing to achieve anything, she is sitting in Nabanna (Secretariat). We had thought that she will ultimately jump in the Ganges… this person (Banerjee) has lost her mind and we are not ready to see her insanity… the state’s people have realised their mistake of bringing in the change in West Bengal,” Ghosh said.Reacting sharply to Ghosh’s statement, the TMC said that after failing to fight Banerjee on her stand on demonetization, the BJP has started spewing “dangerous personal threats to the Bengal CM”.”The BJP cannot fight Mamata Banerjee on policy, good governance and her principled stand on demonetization on behalf of millions who are affected,” the statement released by TMC said. “BJP is desperate to silence the voice of the opposition. So how low do they stoop’ The Bengal BJP president spews deeply dangerous, threatening, abusive and completely false personal statements against her. A new low in politics,” it said.A day earlier Mamata Banerjee had claimed that PM Modi had no solution for the hardships of people due to demonetization. ‘Modi babu knows that #DeMonetisation now derailed. Except giving bhashan, he has no solution,’ Mamata tweeted.Prime Minister Modi had made an appeal to the opposition to help inform the masses that they do not need to stand in queue and can use mobile banking for cash transactions.”From the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel I want to share something with my friends in the opposition. Yes, during elections we have a lot of heated debates. But we all call for increased voter turnout. Likewise, yes, you can oppose me but do teach people about banking, using technology for financial transactions,” he said while addressing the farmers at a rally in Gujarat’s Deesa. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo who from the beginning opposed the demonetization and demanded its roll back, earlier on Thursday sharpened her attack on the Prime Minister and said the latter must resign because the move has led to “economic disaster” in the country and he has “no moral right” to continue.Alleging the country’s growth and business have been hit due to demonetization, she said the Prime Minister “doesn’t trust” anyone and he “doesn’t understand” what is good for the country. She has also questioned the motives behind the government’s move, alleging that nobody but the Prime Minister and his aides have benefited from the scheme. With inputs from agencies
