A 29-year-old law student from Kerala’s Ernakulam district was brutally raped and murdered on 28 April as she was brutally stabbed and kicked in the stomach. Her body was found in a mutilated condition inside her home, as per this report by India Today.

The report quotes the police as saying that the incident took place four days back and the Dalit student’s severely-stabbed body was found by her mother when she returned from work.

According to this report by NDTV,  the woman was brutalized with a sharp instrument and also had a head injury. The police suspect that the incident took place between 1 p.m and 5 p.m, states the report.

In an indication of the severity of the assault, the woman’s intestines were hanging out when her body was found.

According to India Today, the mother of the woman is mentally challenged and had no good relation with any of the neighbours. The friends of the victim found out about her death from a local newspaper.

However, the police said that the investigation in still in process and no arrests have been made so far.
