Exactly one month after surgical strikes, the brave sons of India have made a supreme sacrifice on the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil, Kupwara, North Kashmir.Constable Koli Nitin Subhash of Sangli, Maharashtra is the second soldier to have died on the LoC in a span of 12 hours. Mandeep Singh was earlier killed and his body badly mutilated by Pakistan backed militants on Friday evening.Son of a truck driver, 26-year-old Mandeep Singh from Kurukshetra, Haryana had joined the army in 2009. Comrades in his unit remember him as a patriot who always preferred country over self.Nationalism runs in the blood of the family of the rifleman. Singh’s maternal brother serves the same unit, which has been deployed to guard the LoC. Singh’s wife Prerna is working with the Haryana police.Patriotism filled the air as troops remembered the fallen hero on Saturday. “Sepoy Mandeep Singh lived by the teaching of the Holy Guru Granth Sahab and embraced martyrdom by it too,” said anarmy spokesman.Constable Koli Nitin Subhash had joined the BSF in 2008 and was respected for his bravery by his colleagues in the unit.
