Art of Living Foundation founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar called on moderate Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his residence on Friday evening and held detailed discussions on the ongoing situation in Kashmir.A spokesman of Mirwaiz said the moderate leader, while praising the contributions of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the field of social sector, said the ongoing situation in Jammu Kashmir was worrisome and the plans that the government was trying to implement are anti-Kashmir and against the collective interests of the people.<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Mirwaiz also informed Sri Sri Ravi Shankar that the peaceful activities of the separatist leadership were being curtailed. He told the spiritual guru that arrests and restrictions on the movement of leaders has become a routine matter. “This is being done to cow down the people and alter the demographic and disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.While talking about return of Kashmiri Pandits, Mirwaiz told Sri Sri that Pandits are an integral part of Kashmiri society and Hurriyat had always stood for their dignified return to the Valley so that they once again became part and parcel of social milieu.“It is unfortunate that even this humanitarian issue was being politicised by certain vested interests and an impression was being created that Kashmiri Pandits were not safe among Kashmiri Muslims which was far from reality,” Mirwaiz said.Mirwaiz urged the visiting dignitary to inform the Indian public about the real situation of Kashmir and clear their misconceptions.Later Sri Sri met governor NN Vohra and deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh. “The service rendered by fellow humans to each other is one of the most sacred service and should be the driving force of every person,” Sri Sri said during his meeting with Dr Singh.
