The motive behind killing 14 members of his own family seems to have ended with the death of Hasnain Warekar, who committed suicide after the killing spree at his Thane residence, on Sunday.Subiya Bharmar (22) — Hasnain’s sister and the lone survivor of the incident — is admitted to a hospital. In her statement to the police she denied any property-related dispute that would have forced 35-year-old Hasnain to commit the murders.<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>Investigation and forensic team did not find any clue or confession note that would help the police draw conclusion for the reason behind the crime. Family friends and neighbours were also shocked when they came to know about the incident.”They (the family) were a native of a village and Hasnain was their only son. Our family members always asked us to take Hasnain as our idol and follow his footsteps. He was decent, religious and loved his family,” said Salim Patel. He added: “Property dispute cannot be the reason and what led him kill 14 people in cold blood is a question which would never be answered as it died along with Hasnain. We all are shocked and their entire village is in grief.”Meera Kedar — a constable attached with special branch who spoke to Subiya at Titan hospital — said: “We were trying to talk to her in the morning and she revealed that she could not scream for help as she feared she would be killed too. When Hasnain arrived and slit her throat, she fell unconscious.”She added: “When we asked her whether it was a property dispute, Subiya answered in negative. She said that his brother was never behind money and loved them all.”The statement of the victim has been taken and senior officials are investigating the case and further statement would be taken after she gets well and is discharged from the hospital, said Kedar.A senior police official from Thane police department said: “We cannot speculate things unless and until we have any evidence to prove the motive behind the murder. In this case the accused has ended life and we will have to book him for the killings.”
