Amid political blame game between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress over the 2013 Augusta VVIP chopper deal, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday said that she is not afraid and has nothing to hide.Speaking to media, Sonia Gandhi said, “We have nothing to hide. Let them take my name, I am not afraid.”The Congress chief also said that all allegations are baseless and questioned why the government did not complete the inquiry when they are in power for two years.<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>”Where is the proof? Its part of their strategy of character assassination,” Sonia Gandhi added.Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha also witnessed ruckus over allegations of bribery in the Rs.3,6000 crore VVIP helicopter deal during the UPA regime, with Sonia Gandhi clearly being the target of the ruling party’s attack. The Italy court judgment that sentenced the Italian defence firm Finmeccanica’s former chief Giuseppe Orsi to jail for four years and former CEO of Finmeccanica’s UK-based helicopter subsidiary AgustaWestland in the case, also suggests that the then UPA government did not cooperate with the Italian probe team.Notes in the order copy pointed that Sonia Gandhi is the “driving force” behind the deal. Manmohan Singh’s name too figures in the order and details that Orsi, by then already in jail, asked his men to contact then Italian Prime Minister Monti or Ambassador Teracciano to call Manmohan Singh.
